Who runs this site

vk6ada.com.au is a personal amateur radio website run by Mike Peace (VK6ADA), Springfield, Missouri, USA. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].

What this site collects

You can read this site without creating an account. Comments are closed and visitor registration is switched off, so the site does not hold a visitor profile for you. The data that is processed falls into these groups:

  • Server and security logs. The web server and Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site, process your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is needed to serve the pages and to keep the site secure.
  • Visitor statistics (Google Analytics). If you accept the Statistics category in the consent banner, Google Analytics records which pages are viewed, the referring site, your approximate location and your device and browser type. It sets cookies such as _ga to tell visits apart.
  • Brevo tracking. If you accept the Marketing category, a Brevo script records the pages you visit and sets cookies. If you are on my Brevo mailing list, or you arrive from a link in one of my emails, Brevo can connect those page visits to your email address.
  • Web push notifications. If you accept the Marketing category, a notification bell is shown. If you then choose to subscribe, your browser’s push subscription identifier is stored by Brevo and its push provider WonderPush so that notifications can be sent to you. You can unsubscribe at any time from the bell or in your browser settings.
  • Embedded content. A few pages embed YouTube videos. These are replaced by a placeholder until you accept the Marketing category. Some articles load fonts from Google Fonts when the page opens, which sends your IP address to Google.
  • Email you send me. If you email me, I keep your message and address so that I can reply.

Cookies and your consent

When you first visit, a consent banner asks which categories you accept. Statistics and marketing scripts are not loaded until you accept them. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Manage consent button shown on every page. The Cookie Policy has more detail.

Who receives data

Data is processed by the service providers that run these features, under their own privacy policies:

I do not sell personal data. These providers operate in the United States, the European Union and other countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in.

How long data is kept

  • Analytics data is kept by Google for the retention period set in my Google Analytics account.
  • Brevo contact and push subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them.
  • Emails are kept for as long as they are needed for the correspondence.
  • Server and security logs are kept for a limited time by the hosting provider and Cloudflare.

Your rights

You can ask what personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Email [email protected] and I will respond. You can withdraw consent to statistics and marketing at any time through the Manage consent button.

Changes to this policy

If the way this site handles data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
